I have a supply of the new fvir (sealed combustion chamber) 40-gallon natural gas water heaters from ge. (50-gallon models are sometimes available as well. call for availability.) they originally carried a either a 6, 9 or 12-year manufacturer’s warranty, but having been liquidated through a distressed merchandise distributor there is now no manufacturer’s warranty remaining. however we do guarantee them to work well upon delivery, (see warranty information below).
as liquidated merchandise these are either freight-damaged or customer returns that can’t be resold as new. we pressure test every one of them for leaks, then run them through two complete heating cycles to verify proper burner and thermostat operation before we deliver them. any damage consists mainly of scratches and dents in the outer skin, and it doesn't affect the function of the units. the sizes of the dents vary from unit to unit, but all of them have noticeable dents in them. if you are concerned about cosmetic appearance, i would suggest planning to cover the unit with an insulating blanket.
they are complete with all controls, the drain valve and the pressure relief valve, but without the deflector hood that mounts on the top of the heater to direct the exhaust gasses into the flue pipe. if you are replacing another water heater with this one you normally can use the existing hood. if this is a new installation you can get a hood from menard's or another home center for right around $10.
warranty
we guarantee these to work well upon delivery, but, again, there is no manufacturer warranty. if you find a problem with the heater upon installing it, let us know right away. we will verify the deficiency and correct it if we can. if we cannot correct the problem we will replace the unit or refund your money, whichever you choose. we recommend that you install the heater as soon after delivery as you can, as we cannot honor any claims made more than 7 days after delivery.
deposit and payment
if you would like to go ahead with a purchase i will send you an invoice through paypal which you can pay with any major credit card. the invoice will be for a $50 deposit with the rest due in cash at the time of delivery. you don’t need a paypal account of your own as i have a full service merchant account which allows me to take payments from anyone. if you do have a paypal account that you wish to use, just let me know the email address you have associated with that account and i will send the invoice to that address.
delivery
we do what is commonly known as doorstep delivery to most of the chicago and milwaukee areas. this means that we will deliver the water heater(s) to your curb, driveway or into your garage, but the buyer is responsible for bringing them inside the house or apartment.
if you have any other questions please email or give me a call at 608-289-8822 any weekday between 8am and 5pm.
